Start a heavy flat waxed thread (210 denier) right behind the eye and wrap back to the bend.
Bind in the silver diamond braid at the bend, then advance the thread forward and stop two eye-lengths behind the eye. Half hitch, rest the bobbin, and wind the braid forward in touching turns up to the thread. Capture it with tight wraps and cut the excess.
Build a small hump of thread at the front of the braid; it helps flare the bucktail upward.
Cut a thin clump of white buck tail about twice the shank length and bind it in on top just past the hump with very tight wraps so it flares up. Hairs from the base of the tail flare more easily.
Clip a few strands of fine flash and bind them in the centre of the clump, then fold the other half over and bind it angled rearward.
Cut a second thin clump of white buck tail the same way and bind it in directly in front of the first.
Smooth the butts and build a neat thread head, then whip finish.
Stick a 4mm adhesive-back eye on each side of the head, checking they sit perfectly even.
Secure the eyes with UV resin in stages: a drop on top of the eyes, cure; a drop under the eyes, cure; then one thin final pass over the eyes and head for durability.
