Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard saltwater streamer hook, 4-6
  • Thread Clear mono fine

Materials

  • Body Gold or silver flat braid/tinsel (rear two-thirds)
  • Wing Brown/tan craft fur (twice shank length)
  • Flash Pearl Krystal Flash (sparse)
  • Belly/head Lighter craft-fur underfur (top and bottom)
  • Eyes Adhesive (yellow or red) (1 pair)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a mono-thread foundation over the rear two-thirds of the shank.
  2. Secure the mylar braid at the bend, wrap it forward in touching turns, and tie off at the one-third mark near the eye.
  3. Tie in the brown craft-fur wing at that one-third point, tips reaching about twice the shank length.
  4. Layer a few strands of pearl flash over the wing, then add a slightly darker craft-fur clump on top.
  5. Attach a lighter clump of craft-fur underfur along the bottom near the eye, then repeat on top so it collars the hook.
  6. Push all the forward fibers back, bind them with a few thread wraps, whip finish, and snip.
  7. Trim the underfur to a tapered baitfish head, coat with UV resin, and press an adhesive eye onto each side.
