Thread Chartreuse (any color you have works) 70-140 denier
Materials
Bead Copper bead (7/64 inch)
Marabou Ginger marabou (A thin clump for the tail, soft feather not blood quill)
Holographic tinsel/Flashabou Copper flashabou (Two strands for the body)
Wire Copper wire (Small, for the counter rib)
UV2 Seal-Ex dubbing Olive brown / ginger uv seal ex dubbing (A very thin pinch, spun as a collar)
How to tie it
Slide a 7/64 copper bead onto a size 8 jig hook, mount it, and start the thread behind the bead.
Tie in a fairly long, thin clump of soft ginger marabou as the tail, keeping it sparse.
Wrap the marabou butts forward all the way to the bead and trim, then wrap back over them to build a smooth, level underbody. Take a turn behind the bead to lock everything.
Tie in the small copper wire at the REAR of the body and leave it hanging. It becomes the counter rib.
Tie in two strands of copper holographic Flashabou at the rear and wrap them forward over the body to just behind the bead, then tie off and trim.
Counter-wrap the copper wire forward over the Flashabou in open spirals, pulling it down tight behind the bead so it locks in, then break it off. This is what makes the fly bulletproof.
Take a very small amount of olive brown UV2 Seal-Ex on the thread, brush it out, and start the collar a little behind the bead: one turn, then about three more turns stacked in front of each other until you are tight behind the bead.
Whip finish behind the bead under firm pressure and brush the collar out with a dubbing brush so the fibers stand out.
