Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard curved scud/midge hook, 18-24
- Thread White 12/0
Materials
- Bead Silver or white glass bead (1, small)
- Body White thread (smooth taper)
- Rib Pearl or fine silver wire/Krystal Flash (one strand)
- Thorax/wing buds White or clear Antron (sparse)
How to tie it
- Slip the glass bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start white thread behind the bead.
- Wind the thread in smooth, slightly overlapping turns down around the bend and back, building a thin, translucent, tapered body.
- Catch in a single strand of pearl flash at the rear and rib it forward in 5-6 even turns for segmentation, then tie off.
- Bind in a tiny pinch of white Antron just behind the bead to suggest emerging gills or wing buds; use half the amount you think.
- Sweep the Antron back, take two anchoring wraps, and whip finish behind the bead.
- Add a pinprick of head cement to the thread body so the ghostly translucency survives fishing.
