Reference Recipe
Hook 1XS-1XL egg/scud hook, 10-14
Thread Fluorescent orange 6/0
Materials
Bead Gold or black tungsten bead (1, heavy for depth)
Weight Lead-free wire (8-10 turns)
Egg body Fluorescent orange/pink Glo-Bug yarn (one clump)
Hot dot Red or chartreuse yarn (small nub)
How to tie it
Run the tungsten bead to the eye, mount the hook, and pile 8-10 turns of lead-free wire behind it so this egg gets down fast in heavy water; start thread over the wire.
Lay a thread base to the point and return to the middle of the shank, building a small thread bump to seat the yarn.
Stack a clump of orange Glo-Bug yarn on top of the shank and take 3-4 tight turns through the middle, letting it flare up all around.
Add a pinch of red or chartreuse yarn on top for the fertilized hot dot, binding it into the same wrap point.
Gather all the fibers straight up, pinch them into a ball, and snip flush with sharp scissors to shape a round egg.
