Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Jig nymph hook, 14-18
- Thread Dark tan 16/0
Materials
- Bead Copper bead (1 slotted tungsten bead)
- Tail Speckled material (3-4 coq de leon fibers)
- Body Iridescent brown/olive material (1 strand Krystal Flash (gasolina))
- Hotspot Fluorescent orange egg sac (Thread collar)
- Coating Clear head cement (UV resin shell)
How to tie it
- Slide the tungsten bead to the eye, mount the jig hook and start dark tan thread behind the bead.
- Tie in 3-4 coq de leon fibers for a tail about one gap long at the bend.
- Tie in a strand of iridescent brown/olive Krystal Flash for the body.
- Lay a smooth thread underbody, then wind the flash forward in touching turns to the bead for a slim, glinting body and bind.
- Build a short fluorescent-orange hot-spot collar just behind the bead.
- Whip finish, then coat the whole body and hotspot in a thin layer of UV resin and cure. The epoxy shell is what makes a perdigon sink like a stone.
