Materials

  • Weight Lead (Few wraps (optional))
  • Shellback Clear scud back thin skin (Strip of plastic bag / scud back)
  • Rib Gold middle (Fine wire)
  • Body Tan or olive d rib larva lace (Antron/possum scud dubbing, shaggy)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the curved hook, start the thread and add a few optional lead wraps along the shank for weight.
  2. At the bend, tie in a clear plastic strip for the shellback and a length of fine wire for the rib.
  3. Dub a plump, shaggy body forward to the eye and pick it out on the underside for legs.
  4. Pull the plastic shellback flat over the top and bind it at the eye.
  5. Counter-wrap the wire rib forward in 5-6 turns to segment the back and lock it down, then helicopter off the tag.
  6. Pick out the belly dubbing, trim the shellback tag and whip finish.
