Galloup's Slick Willy
Dry Fly · Streamer · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version
Classic Recipe
- Hook 4X-long streamer hook, #4-6
- Thread white or match body 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Tail/wing Marabou (1 plume, sparse)
- Flash Ghost Flash / Flashabou (small amount)
- Body UV Polar Chenille (wrapped)
- Collar Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe (1 wrap, brushed back)
How to tie it
- Tie in a sparse marabou tail/wing about a shank-and-a-half long so the fly stays slim and translucent.
- Add a few strands of Ghost Flash along the sides for subtle sparkle.
- Wrap UV Polar Chenille forward as a thin, wispy body, stroking the fibers back with each turn.
- Tie in Ice Dub Shimmer Fringe and make one wrap as a collar, then brush all the fibers rearward.
- Build a small thread head, whip finish, and cement.
- Keep the whole fly sparse and translucent, this is a baitfish silhouette that relies on movement and light rather than bulk.
