Galloup's Mini Peanut Envy

Streamer · Trout · Smallmouth Bass · Intermediate · 2 versions

Classic Recipe

  • Hook wide-gap streamer hooks (Daiichi 2461 or similar), #4-6 (front), #6-8 (rear), articulated (~3 in)
  • Thread match body (olive, tan, black, white, yellow) 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Rear tail Strung marabou (1-2 plumes, shank length)
  • Flash Lateral Scale (few strands each side)
  • Body Ice Dub (dubbed both sections)
  • Body hackle MFC barred saddle hackle (1 per section)
  • Legs Fly enhancer / rubber legs (2 per side)
  • Connection Senyo Intruder wire + 3D bead (1 loop)
  • Head Brass cone (small) (1)

How to tie it

  1. REAR HOOK: tie in a shank-length marabou tail with flash, dub an Ice Dub body, palmer a barred saddle hackle as a collar, splay two rubber legs per side, and whip finish.
  2. FRONT HOOK: connect the rear with Senyo Intruder wire through a 3D bead, lashing it down for a free hinge.
  3. Tie in a marabou skirt with flash over the joint, dub the body forward, and palmer another barred hackle collar with rubber legs.
  4. Slide a small brass cone to the eye to give it a jigging head, and secure it.
  5. Whip finish behind the cone and pick out the Ice Dub so it looks full and alive.
  6. This mid-size Peanut Envy runs about three inches, big enough to move fish but easy to cast on a 5-6 weight.
