Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1 tungsten bead)
  • Weight Lead (Wraps of lead wire)
  • Tails Brown permanent marker (2 goose biots, splayed)
  • Abdomen Pearl anti static bag strip (1 strand Flashabou)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire)
  • Thorax Brown permanent marker (Buggy dubbing)
  • Wing case Mottled thin skin (Turkey tail slip)
  • Hackle Brown hackle (1 hen feather, soft collar)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the gold bead to the eye, mount the hook, wrap lead wire from mid-shank to the bead and shove it into the bead's recess.
  2. At the bend, tie in two goose biots splayed as tails about one gap wide.
  3. Tie in the copper rib and a strand of pearl Flashabou, wrap the Flashabou forward to the thorax for a shiny abdomen and bind.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib forward in 5-6 turns to segment and armor the abdomen, then helicopter off the tag.
  5. Tie in a turkey slip for the wing case, then dub a buggy thorax up to the bead.
  6. Tie in the hen hackle by the stem, take 2-3 turns for a soft-hackle collar and sweep the fibers back.
  7. Draw the turkey wing case forward over the thorax, bind it behind the bead and whip finish.
