How to tie it
Slide the tungsten bead onto a #10 2X-long nymph hook, then put eight to ten wraps of lead wire on the shank, jam them up into the back of the bead to lock it, and break off the excess.
Start red thread behind the wire and take a few wraps to lock it in. Flatten the thread and run it back to the start of the bend and a few millimetres beyond it, so the exposed red thread around the bend becomes the rear hot spot. Take a couple of wraps back up to just in front of the tag.
Flatten the thread and split it with a fine bodkin or needle. Hold the split open with a finger and let the bobbin spin free so the loop widens.
Wax the thicker half of the split thread and bunch a clump of angora goat along it. Pull your finger out, let the thread close, and spin the bobbin twenty to thirty turns so the fibres catch and twist into a shaggy rope.
Wrap the rope forward from just in front of the red tag up to the bead. Evenness does not matter, and a little red showing beneath is fine.
Brush the body hard with velcro on a popsicle stick, both sides, top and underneath, until it is as fuzzy as you can get it.
Tie in a grizzly hen feather behind the bead and take exactly two wraps for legs, then catch it off and snip the excess.
Sweep the hackle back and take thread wraps against the bead to lay the barbs back and build the front hot spot.
Whip finish with about four turns, snip, and add head cement.
