Pheasant tail fibers Natural pheasant tail fibers (About 6-8 fibers for the body)

How to tie it
Slide a 2.4 mm black tungsten bead small-hole-first onto a #16 Daiichi 1560 and mount the hook in the vise.
Start black GSP thread behind the bead and wrap a smooth base back to the bend.
Tie in a length of small copper wire at the bend and leave it hanging out of the way.
Tie in a bunch of natural pheasant tail fibers by the butts at the bend, wrap the thread forward to the 70% point, then wind the pheasant tail forward in touching turns to that point and tie off. Trim the excess.
Counter-rib with the copper wire in four or five evenly spaced open spirals to lock the herl-like fibers down, tie off and helicopter the wire to break it cleanly.
Dub a short, tight collar of caddis green dubbing over the front of the thorax, stopping about two eye-widths behind the bead.
Tie in a black hen hackle by the tip in front of the green collar and take two turns, stroking the barbs back so they sweep toward the bend. Tie off and trim.
Take a few tight wraps to seat the hackle against the bead, whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
