Tail/Extended body Olive or olive-dun Pseudo Hair (fused with Zap-A-Gap) (small clump)
Hackle Grizzly dry-fly hackle (1 feather)
Thorax Peacock herl (1-2 strands)
Wing/Head Gray sparkle emerger yarn or McFlylon (1 clump)
How to tie it
Start thread at mid-shank. Take a small clump of Pseudo Hair, brush Zap-A-Gap along it and let it set to form a stiff extended body, then tie it in so it projects off the bend as the tail/abdomen.
Tie in a clump of gray emerger yarn upright at the thorax as a post wing so the fly is visible on the water.
Tie in a grizzly hackle at the base of the post.
Tie in a peacock herl and wrap a short thorax up to the wing.
Wrap the hackle parachute-style around the base of the post in 4-5 turns and tie off. The parachute hackle floats the fly flush in the film like a struggling emerger.
Whip finish, trim the wing to about a hook-gap high, and cement the head.
