How to tie it
Slide a 2.4mm gold slotted tungsten bead onto a #18 jig hook, slot forward, and seat it behind the eye; start the brown-olive thread behind the bead.
Wrap a thread base back to the bend, then measure about six Coq de Leon fibers a half shank-length long and tie them in at the bend for the tail; trim the butts.
Tie in a strand of dark brown Uni-Flex at the bend, pull it tight while binding it forward to reduce bulk, and trim the excess.
Wrap the Uni-Flex forward with firm tension, easing off slightly on each wrap to build a tapered, segmented body; stop about two eye-widths behind the bead and tie off, leaving room for a thorax.
Dub a slim thorax of peacock Ice Dub up to just behind the bead.
Tie in a dark dun hen hackle by the tip, take one wrap for legs, then sweep the fibers back and secure them.
Dub a touch more peacock Ice Dub in front of the hackle to clean up the head.
