Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Kamasan B175, #8
  • Thread White UTC 70 denier

Materials

  • Mink strip Natural case (1 (wing))
  • Fritz Olive uv straggle chenille mm (body)
  • Plastazote foam White thin fly foam (1 piece (head, cut to size))
  • Bug Bond (UV glue) Clear head cement (as needed)

How to tie it

  1. Start white thread on the Kamasan B175 and run a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a length of olive Fritz at the bend and wrap it forward to about the 70% point to form a full, flashy fry body; tie off and stroke the fibers back.
  3. Tie in a natural mink strip as a wing over the top, extending to about the bend, hide down.
  4. At the front, tie in a small piece of Plastazote foam on top of the shank as a buoyant head; secure with firm wraps and figure-eights so it sits proud.
  5. Whip finish behind the eye and clip the thread.
  6. Add a drop of Bug Bond to the head and thread wraps and cure so the foam head is locked and sealed.
