How to tie it
Fix the articulated shank in the vise and lay a thread base along it, building a small bump at the rear so material slides off the end. Add a drop of glue.
Tie in a sparse clump of white bucktail taken from the base of the hide (plenty of air in the fibres) on top of the shank, using a couple of loose wraps then pinching flat and pulling tight so it stands up hollow and fans around the top half.
Add an orange throat flash and a couple of grizzly hackles splayed on each side, then a pinch of pearl Flashabou over the top. Whip the rear shank body and cement.
Connect the shank to the front hook via its loop, then start thread on the front hook and lay a base with a bump at the rear.
Tie in another hollow clump of white bucktail on top and pinch it flat to build the roach profile, then add a shorter grey/olive clump over it for the back.
Add a bunch of pearl Flashabou and a few strands of orange over the top for the lateral flash.
Tie in and stack one or two more hollow bucktail collars in front, pinching each flat and pushing back to build a full baitfish head that holds its profile.
Whip finish, build a neat thread head, and glue on the stick-on eyes.
Coat the head with UV resin and cure to lock the eyes and finish the fly.
