Reference Recipe

  • Hook Streamer or jig, with bead (optional), #6-#12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Gold or black tungsten bead (1, sized to gap (optional))
  • Tail Black or olive material (marabou plume)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (few strands (optional))
  • Body Black, olive, or claret material (Fritz/blob chenille)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a tungsten bead to the eye if used and mount the hook, starting thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail one shank length long, adding a couple of strands of flash if wanted.
  3. Tie in a length of Fritz (fritz/straggle) chenille at the tail base.
  4. Wrap the Fritz forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, stroking the fibers rearward each turn so they stand out and breathe.
  5. Tie off behind the bead and sweep the fibers back.
  6. Whip finish and pick out the body fibers for a full, mobile profile.
