Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry/emerger, down eye, #18-#24
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Shuck Gray/amber material (few Antron fibers)
  • Body Black or olive material (tying thread or fine dubbing)
  • Wing/Post White uni stretch (poly yarn, upright)
  • Thorax Black ostrich herl (fine dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the tiny hook and start thread mid-shank.
  2. Tie in a wisp of gray shuck at the bend, short and sparse.
  3. Build a slim thread or dubbed abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
  4. Post a short upright white poly wing at the 65% mark to serve as wing bud and sighter.
  5. Dub a tiny black thorax fore and aft of the post, using the barest pinch.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and trim the post to a low visible nub.
