Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry/emerger, down eye, #14-#20
  • Thread Olive dun 8/0

Materials

  • Shuck Amber vinyl rib medium (few Antron/Z-lon fibers)
  • Body Olive or dun material (fine dubbing)
  • Wing/Post White uni stretch (poly yarn or foam, upright)
  • Thorax Dun microfibetts (fine dubbing)
  • Hackle Grizzly dun hackle (1, parachute (optional))

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread mid-shank.
  2. Tie in a sparse amber shuck at the bend, half a shank long.
  3. Dub a slim tapered abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
  4. Post a short upright wing of white poly (or a foam tab) at the 65% mark and take a few turns at its base to stand it up.
  5. Dub a small thorax fore and aft of the post, and if desired wind a couple of parachute hackle turns around the base.
  6. Whip finish at the eye and trim the wing post to a visible nub.
