Reference Recipe

  • Hook Wide-gap bass/popper, straight eye, #2-#6
  • Thread Green 3/0

Materials

  • Body Green over cream (stacked 3mm foam)
  • Legs Barred green/yellow rubber legs (silicone rubber, splayed)
  • Skirt Olive ostrich herl (marabou or palmered hackle)
  • Eyes Red or yellow material (doll or 3D eyes)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the wide-gap hook and lay a thread base along the shank.
  2. Tie in a short olive marabou skirt at the bend, no longer than the shank, for a kicking rear.
  3. Layer green-over-cream foam and bind it at the bend, then cinch again forward to segment the body.
  4. Splay two pairs of long rubber legs with figure-8 wraps, one set at the waist and one at the shoulder.
  5. Fold the top foam forward over the back and tie it behind the eye to form a rounded, buoyant head.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye and glue eyes to the sides of the head.
  7. Trim legs long so they wiggle and quiver at rest.
