Frank's Fire Scud

Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved scug/grub, 12-16
  • Thread orange 8/0

Materials

  • scud/shrimp dubbing Hot orange ice dub (small amount)
  • clear scud back Clear scud back thin skin (1 strip)
  • wire rib Copper wire (short length)

How to tie it

  1. Cover the curved hook with thread down to the bend.
  2. Tie in a strip of scud back and the wire rib at the bend.
  3. Dub a rough, buggy body forward to the eye.
  4. Pull the scud back over the top and secure at the eye.
  5. Rib the wire forward in evenly spaced turns to segment the shellback and tie off.
  6. Pick out the dubbing on the underside for legs and whip finish.
