Standard Recipe

  • Hook Standard nymph, 1x long, 12-18
  • Thread Brown or black 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Hackle fibers or biots (sparse)
  • Body Dubbing to match (tapered)
  • Rib Wire or tinsel (4 inches)
  • Wingcase Turkey or Thin Skin (folded over)
  • Legs Hen hackle fibers (sparse)
  • Bead Tungsten bead (1)

How to tie it

  1. Slide bead onto hook, mount in vise
  2. Start thread, tie in tail material at bend
  3. Tie in rib material at bend
  4. Dub or wrap body forward to thorax area
  5. Counter-wrap rib for durability
  6. Tie in wingcase material, dub thorax
  7. Pull wingcase over thorax, tie off
  8. Pick out dubbing for legs, whip finish behind bead
