Note: Contested against a published dressing: Originator's dressing contradicts ours on the main materials. Ours: white/olive bucktail belly and wing, lead-free wire keel, straight-eye saltwater hook, 6/0 thread, 3D stick-on eyes. Reference Recipe
Hook Streamer/saltwater, straight eye, #1/0-#4
Thread White 6/0
Materials
Flash Tail Pearl flashabou (clump of flash, shank length)
Belly White uni stretch (bucktail)
Wing Olive or gray material (bucktail)
Lateral Flash Pearl/holographic flash (few strands each side)
Head Clear/flexible (flexible resin over thread)
Eyes Silver metal tape (3D stick-on)
Keel Lead-free (wire wrap under shank)
How to tie it
Mount the hook and tie in a sparse pearl flash tail about a shank long at the bend.
Add a low-profile keel of lead-free wire along the underside of the shank so the fly rides upright, and bind it down.
Tie a white bucktail belly at the head pointing rearward, then flip and stack a darker bucktail wing on top for a two-tone baitfish back.
Add a few strands of holographic flash along each side for a lateral line.
Fold the fibers back and take tight thread wraps to form a tapered head shape.
Coat the head with flexible resin or head cement, set stick-on eyes into it, and whip finish.
