Reference Recipe

  • Hook Steelhead/salmon or articulated shank, straight eye, #1-#4 (or trailing hook on shank)
  • Thread Pink 6/0

Materials

  • Body Silver metal tape (oval tinsel or Ice Dub)
  • Wing Pink ears (arctic fox tail, layered)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (6-8 strands)
  • Collar Pink ears (rooster saddle hackle)
  • Hackle Pheasant rump (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook or shank and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Wrap a slim silver tinsel body forward to the 70% mark for a bit of underbody flash.
  3. Tie in a sparse layer of pink arctic fox on top, then a few strands of pearl flash, and repeat once for a full but lightweight wing.
  4. Wind a pink rooster saddle hackle in 2-3 turns as a mobile collar.
  5. Follow with a pheasant rump feather palmered once for long, flowing barred fibers, then sweep everything rearward.
  6. Build a neat thread head and whip finish.
