Reference Recipe
- Hook 1XL nymph, down eye, #10-#18
- Thread Red 8/0
Materials
- Bead Gold bead (1, sized to gap)
- Tail Brown permanent marker (2 goose/turkey biots, split)
- Rib Silver metal tape (oval tinsel)
- Body Peacock ice dub (herl)
- Collar Natural case (partridge or hen back)
How to tie it
- Slide a gold bead to the eye and mount the hook, starting red thread behind the bead.
- Tie in two brown biots at the bend, splayed into a V tail one third of a shank long.
- Bind in a length of silver oval tinsel and 2-3 peacock herls at the tail base.
- Wrap the herl forward in touching turns to just behind the bead and tie off.
- Counter-rib the tinsel forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns and secure so it protects the fragile herl.
- Wrap a short, sweptback partridge collar behind the bead for legs.
- Build a small red thread hot-spot head against the bead and whip finish.
