Reference Recipe
- Hook Wide-gap bass/popper, straight eye, #2-#6
- Thread Chartreuse 3/0
Materials
- Body Green over yellow (stacked 3mm foam, layered)
- Legs Barred olive/yellow rubber legs (silicone rubber, 2 pairs)
- Tail/Skirt Olive and yellow material (marabou or craft fur)
- Eyes Yellow mcflylon (stick-on or doll eyes)
How to tie it
- Mount the wide-gap hook and lay a thread base along the shank.
- Tie in a short olive-over-yellow marabou skirt at the bend, no longer than the shank.
- Stack two layers of foam (yellow belly, green back) and bind them on at the bend, then advance thread and cinch again to form a broad segmented body.
- Figure-8 two pairs of splayed rubber legs, one pair at the waist and one at the shoulder.
- Bring the top foam forward over the back and tie it down behind the eye to shape a blunt, flat frog head that pushes water.
- Whip finish behind the eye and glue eyes to the sides of the head.
- Trim the front lip square so it plops and chugs.
- Twitch and pop it across lily pads and shoreline cover for largemouth bass and big bluegill.
