How to tie it
Start the 3/0 thread. Cut the end of a Black Razor Foam strip at an angle, tie the point in at the rear, then go back and catch the wider part and crimp it down. Fold it back over itself and bind it to double the egg sac.
Dub a small amount of Antron Fur Blend right in front of the egg sac as a base for the foam to sit over.
Cut a strip of 4mm Fly tying Foam about half a hook gap wide, angle the end, and tie it in immediately in front of the egg sac with a couple of tight turns. Add turns in front to anchor it; it wobbles otherwise.
Tie in one section of Enrico Puglisi EP Fibers at the rear, bound down tight.
Tie half a length of barred Sexi Floss in on the near side as the rear legs, loosely so it can still be moved, then turn the hook and tie the other half on the far side. Position both, then a couple of tight turns to anchor.
Dub a thread as thin and sparse as possible up between the rear legs, lift the legs, and dub the rest of the body forward, holding the wing and legs out of the way. Leave room for the head.
Before pulling the foam down, tie in a Razor Foam collar strip, cut at an angle, at the front and snip the tag. Then bring the 4mm foam down over the body, bind it with tight turns, and cut the rest out, leaving room for the head.
Tie in a second section of EP Fibers as the wing at the front and cut off the excess.
Pull the Razor Foam collar forward over the head as a cap, take a couple of turns, and trim the rest.
Tie a front leg of barred Sexi Floss in on each side, left fairly loose so they can be adjusted.
Dub a little more Antron Fur Blend over the head wraps to clean it up, holding the legs out of the way, and whip finish at the eye with about five turns.
Trim the wing at an angle a little past the bend while the fly is in the vise, then cut the leg loops and trim the legs, rear pair matched first, then front.
