Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 14-20
- Thread Rust, olive, or gray to match 8/0
Materials
- Tails Dun/ginger material (2-3 Microfibetts, widely splayed)
- Body Rust/olive/gray material (fine dubbing or thread, segmented)
- Wings White/pearl wing flag (poly yarn or organza, spent flat)
- Post/sighter Hi-vis foam (tiny foam tab on top)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
- Split and splay 2-3 Microfibett tails wide off the bend for balance.
- Dub or wrap a slim, segmented body forward to the 65% mark; use half the dubbing you think.
- Tie poly wing material across the shank and figure-8 it into a flat, spent-wing posture.
- Set a tiny hi-vis foam tab on top of the thorax for buoyancy and visibility.
- Dub a sparse thorax over the wing roots to lock everything down.
- Whip finish behind the eye and trim the wings and foam tab to length.
