Foam Run Caddis

Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 12-16
- Thread Tan or brown 8/0
Materials
- Body Tan/olive carapace (2mm foam strip, segmented)
- Underbody Caddis tan (sparse dubbing)
- Wing Natural deer or elk hair (tented clump)
- Hackle Brown hackle (2-3 turns at head)
- Sighter Orange permanent marker (small foam tab, optional)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
- Bind a tan foam strip and segment the rear body with 3-4 thread wraps to the 65% mark.
- Dub a thin caddis-tan thorax forward.
- Stack and tie a tented deer-hair wing over the back, tips reaching just past the bend.
- Wind 2-3 turns of brown hackle at the front for legs and float.
- Fold the foam forward to form the head and add an optional orange sighter on top.
- Whip finish and trim the hair and foam to a neat head.
