Emerger · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Curved emerger hook, 16-20
- Thread Olive or gray 8/0
Materials
- Trailing shuck Amber/brown material (few Z-lon fibers)
- Abdomen Olive/gray material (sparse dubbing)
- Rib Fine wire (optional, 4-5 turns)
- Wing/back Gray flotation (1-2mm foam strip)
- Thorax Gray flotation (sparse dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook and lay a thread base around the bend.
- Tie in a short amber Z-lon trailing shuck, about half a shank long.
- Dub a slim abdomen forward to the 60% mark; use half the dubbing you think.
- Tie in a narrow foam strip at the 60% mark pointing back.
- Dub a small thorax, then pull the foam forward to form a buoyant wing bump and bind behind the eye.
- Pick out a few thorax fibers for legs.
- Whip finish and trim the foam to a short tab that hangs the fly in the film.
