Foam Arse Blob

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Straight-eye wet/lure hook, 10-12
  • Thread Fluorescent orange or to match 6/0

Materials

  • Buoyancy White or fl. orange buoyancy (closed-cell foam cylinder at the bend)
  • Body Fluorescent orange / sunburst / coral (Fritz or Blob chenille)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Bind a short foam cylinder over the bend so it sits proud at the rear for buoyancy (the 'foam arse'), then figure-8 to lock it.
  3. Tie in a length of Blob Fritz just ahead of the foam.
  4. Wind the Fritz forward in touching turns, stroking the fibers back each wrap so they don't trap, up to the 85% mark.
  5. Tie off the Fritz and release the trapped fibers with a dubbing needle.
  6. Build a neat thread head, whip finish, and pick out the fibers into a full round blob.
