Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard wet-fly / light nymph hook, 14-18
  • Thread Pale yellow 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Light ginger material (few soft hackle fibers)
  • Body Pale yellow-olive material (spun hare/rabbit dubbing)
  • Rib Fine gold wire (optional)
  • Hackle Light dun or partridge (1-2 turns, sparse)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and run a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short tail of a few light-ginger soft fibers, about half a shank long.
  3. Spin a thin pale yellow-olive noodle on waxed thread and wrap a slim, glowing body to the 75% mark.
  4. Counter-wrap an optional fine gold rib in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
  5. Tie in a light dun or partridge hackle by the tip and take one to two soft turns only.
  6. Stroke the fibers back and down, build a small head, and whip finish.
