Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard wet-fly / light nymph hook, 14-18
- Thread Pale yellow 8/0
Materials
- Tail Light ginger material (few soft hackle fibers)
- Body Pale yellow-olive material (spun hare/rabbit dubbing)
- Rib Fine gold wire (optional)
- Hackle Light dun or partridge (1-2 turns, sparse)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and run a thread base to the bend.
- Tie in a short tail of a few light-ginger soft fibers, about half a shank long.
- Spin a thin pale yellow-olive noodle on waxed thread and wrap a slim, glowing body to the 75% mark.
- Counter-wrap an optional fine gold rib in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
- Tie in a light dun or partridge hackle by the tip and take one to two soft turns only.
- Stroke the fibers back and down, build a small head, and whip finish.
