Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard wet-fly hook, 12-16
- Thread Primrose / pale yellow 8/0
Materials
- Tail Ginger spandex life flex (few soft hackle fibers)
- Body Creamy tan (spun fox/hare belly dubbing)
- Rib Fine gold wire (optional)
- Hackle Ginger/cream hen (1-2 turns, sparse)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
- Tie in a few ginger soft-hackle fibers for a short tail, about half a shank long.
- Spin a slim, creamy-tan fur body on waxed thread and wrap forward to the 75% mark, keeping it translucent.
- If ribbing, counter-wrap a fine gold wire in 4-5 open turns and tie off.
- Tie in a cream-ginger hen hackle by the tip and take only one to two soft turns.
- Sweep the fibers back, form a neat head, and whip finish.
