Tail Pheasant tail fibers, or material of your choice
Body Pheasant tail fibers, peacock herl, or your choice
Throat Mottled soft hackle fibers
Wing Fluffy fibers from the base of a hackle feather, any color, over two strands of crystal flash
How to tie it
Start the thread and lay a base all the way back to the bend.
Tie in four or five Pheasant tail fibers as a tail, a little longer than a hook gap. Catch them with two wraps, check the position and that none stand up, then one more wrap on top.
Advance the thread almost to the eye. Wrap the Pheasant tail fibers forward as the body, either twisted together or laid parallel, all the way to the front. Snip the excess and add a couple of locking wraps.
Tie in 10 or 12 Mottled soft hackle fibers under the shank as a throat, reaching to about the hook point or a little past. Trim the excess.
Tie in two strands of crystal flash on top, snipped to about the length the wing will be. Two only.
Pull a small pinch of the Fluffy fibers from the base of a hackle feather and tie it in on top as the wing with a pinch wrap, about body length and no longer than the body.
Take the thread right back to the eye and compress the soft wing fibers down; build a decent nymph head.
