Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard or curved midge hook, #16-#22
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Bead Silver (optional) bead (1)
- Body Clear/red/black material (Flexo tubing over thread underbody)
- Underbody Red or black material (thread)
- Thorax Black ostrich herl (fine dubbing)
- Wing case/gills White goose shoulder (tiny poll tuft)
How to tie it
- Optionally add a small silver bead, then mount the hook and lay a smooth colored thread underbody to the bend.
- Slide or tie a length of fine clear Flexo (hollow braided) tubing over the shank so the colored underbody glows through it.
- Bind the tubing down at the bend and wind thread forward to compress it into a slim segmented body, stopping behind the bead.
- Dub a small dark thorax at the front.
- Add a tiny white tuft over the thorax for gills, kept minimal.
- Whip finish and add a drop of UV resin over the body for shine.
