Flexo Crab

Classic Recipe

  • Hook Saltwater hook, 2-6
  • Thread Tan or olive 6/0

Materials

  • Body Flexo mesh tubing (flattened)
  • Legs Sili legs or rubber (4-6)
  • Eyes Lead or bead chain (1 pair underneath)
  • Weight Lead eyes for hook-up (underneath)
  • Claws Craft fur or feather tips (2)

How to tie it

  1. Mount hook, tie in lead eyes underneath the shank.
  2. Slide a section of Flexo braided mesh tubing over the shank. Flatten it into a disc and secure it at both ends with tight thread wraps.
  3. Thread Sili legs through the mesh with a needle. The mesh holds them in place, radiating naturally from the body. 2-3 per side.
  4. Add claw clumps of craft fur or feather tips at the rear.
  5. Trim the mesh edges to a rounded crab shape and seal them with UV resin so they don't fray.
  6. Whip finish.
