Flesh Fly

Reference Recipe

  • Hook 2XL-4XL streamer, straight eye, #2-#8
  • Thread White or pink 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Optional pink/gold bead (1)
  • Tail Flesh/cream material (1 marabou plume)
  • Body Flesh/cream material (2 marabou plumes or bunny strip)
  • Flash Pearl/pink flash (few strands)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally slide a pink or gold bead to the eye, then mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
  2. Tie in a flesh-colored marabou plume for a tail one to one-and-a-half shank lengths long.
  3. Add a few strands of pearl or pink flash over the tail.
  4. Tie in marabou by the tip and wrap it forward as a full, mobile body, or palmer a cross-cut bunny strip forward for a leech-flesh look.
  5. Stroke the fibers back with each turn so the fly pulses, and stop behind the bead or eye.
  6. Build a small head, whip finish and cement.
