Start the FL. Green Veevus 6/0 and bind the Large Plain Lead Eyes on top of the shank at the middle, or a touch forward of middle, with hard figure-8 wraps until they cannot rock. Run the thread back to the bend and invert the hook.
Cut the Tan Furry Foam to a small crab-body shape. At the bend, sneak one wrap over the tip of the foam, then lock it with a couple of tight wraps. Advance the thread and push the body off to the side, out of the way.
Measure a Small Black EP Crab Shrimp Eye so it pokes just past the furry foam and bind it alongside one lead eye with tight wraps. X-wrap around it, bend the mono to one side and add more wraps over the bend. Repeat on the other side of the lead eyes, matching length, bending the mono forward.
Take the thread back down the shank to the bend. Tie in the Tan EP Woolly Critter Brush, then the Orange Short EP Streamer Brush, both at the rear.
Tie in one Sand EP Crab Claw at the rear with a wrap or two, measured so the joint of the claw just sticks out past the body, then bind it down. Jump the thread forward to just past the lead eyes and tie in the front claw the same way, joint just past the body. Leave a little bare shank behind the hook eye.
Make one wrap of the Orange Short EP Streamer Brush behind the back claw, then spiral it forward in open turns, not overlapping, so a little thread shows between turns. Tie off and trim.
Wrap the Tan EP Woolly Critter Brush forward in the gaps between the orange turns, letting some orange show through, and tie off at the front. Pull the brush legs down out of the way and do not trim them; keep every leg you can.
Trim a small flat base on top of the brush body. Lay a stripe of Clear Hot Glue down the top, press the Tan Furry Foam body onto it, hold until the glue cools and hardens, then take a wrap over the tip of the foam to secure it.
Fold a length of 20 lb hard mono in half for the weed guard. Set the loop over the hook eye, hanging below it, bind with three or four wraps, pull the guard up and take one wrap behind it to stand it up.
Whip finish behind the eye, trim the weed guard, and finish with Brush On Zap A Gap.
