Slide the 2.8mm silver tungsten bead onto the grub hook and push it to the eye, then start the flat red 70D behind it and lock the bead with a few wraps in front.
Run the thread back to the start of the bend and tie in a length of red mini egg yarn on top of the shank, leaving a tag hanging past the bend roughly a shank and a half long. That soft yarn tag is the whole worm and it needs to be long enough to wave.
Bind the forward end of the yarn along the shank up to the 70% mark with flat, spread wraps, letting the fibers splay slightly rather than crushing them into a hard rope.
Twist the remaining yarn lightly and wrap it forward in touching turns to build a slim, fuzzy body up to the 70% mark, then tie off. Unlike a rubber worm this fleece body picks up air bubbles and does not go stiff in cold water.
Dub a short berry microflash collar from the 70% mark to the bead as a hot spot, whip finish, and put a small drop of Bone Dry on the thread wraps only so the yarn stays soft.
