Thread to match egg (salmon, pink, Oregon cheese) 8/0 (or 140 denier)
Materials
Tail flash Pearl or pink Krystal Flash / Flashabou (few strands)
Body Egg yarn / McFly Foam or Glo-Bug yarn (salmon egg, pink, Oregon cheese) (1 clump)
Hot spot (optional) Contrasting egg yarn (a few fibers) (few)
How to tie it
Lay a thread base and tie in a short sparse tail of Krystal Flash at the bend. The little flashtail is the distinguishing trigger, adding a subtle sparkle to a drifting egg.
Lay a clump of egg yarn across the top of the shank at the mid-point and secure with tight thread wraps.
Optionally add a few fibers of a contrasting colour for a hot spot / veil.
Gather the yarn straight up, compress it, and cut it off close to form a round egg shape (a single clean scissor cut across the gathered fibers).
Whip finish a small thread head at the eye and trim any stray fibers into a neat sphere.
