Flashback Soft Hackle Pheasant Tail

Reference Recipe
- Hook 1XL nymph/wet hook, 12-18
- Thread Brown/orange 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Bead Copper (optional) bead (sized to hook)
- Tail Pheasant tail fibers (few)
- Abdomen Pheasant tail fibers (wrapped)
- Rib Copper wire (1 strand)
- Flashback Pearl tinsel (1 strip)
- Thorax Peacock herl or hare's ear (small pinch)
- Soft hackle Hungarian partridge (2 turns)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook (add a copper bead if desired) and start thread.
- Tie in a few pheasant tail fibers for a short tail and catch in copper wire.
- Wrap the pheasant fibers forward to the 65% mark, then counter-rib the wire in 5-6 turns.
- Tie in a strip of pearl flash, then dub a short peacock or hare's ear thorax.
- Pull the flash over as a flashback and bind at the front.
- Wrap 2 turns of soft partridge hackle for a collar and sweep the fibers back, then whip finish.
