Body Olive/gray scud dubbing (Sow-Scud or Antron blend) (pinch)
Shellback/Flashback Pearl scud back or Mylar over clear scud back (1 strip)
How to tie it
Wrap 6-8 turns of lead-free wire at mid-shank for a little weight and to give the scud its humped profile.
At the bend tie in a few partridge fibers as a short tail, a strip of pearl/clear scud back, and the mono rib.
Dub a fat, rough body forward to the eye, picking out the underside to suggest legs.
Pull the pearl scud back (or clear back with pearl tinsel beneath) over the top and tie it down at the eye to form a shiny flashback shell.
Counter-wrap the mono rib forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns to segment the shell and lock it down. The flash imitates the gas/air sheen of a swimming scud.
Whip finish and pick out the belly dubbing for legs.
