Flashback Pheasant Tail Curved Hook-Beadhead

Reference Recipe

• Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, 12-18
• Thread Brown 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

• Bead Copper tungsten bead (sized to hook)
• Tail Pheasant tail fibers (4-6)
• Abdomen Pheasant tail fibers (wrapped)
• Rib Fine copper wire (1 strand)
• Flashback Pearl tinsel (1 strip)
• Thorax Peacock herl (2 strands)
• Legs Pheasant tail tips (split back)

How to tie it

1. Seat a copper bead on the curved hook, mount, and start thread.
2. Tie in 4-6 pheasant tail fibers at the bend for the tail, half a shank long, and catch in copper wire.
3. Wrap the pheasant fibers forward to the 60% mark for the abdomen, then counter-rib the copper wire in 5-6 turns.
4. Tie in a strip of pearl flash and a new bunch of pheasant fibers with tips facing back.
5. Wrap a peacock-herl thorax to the bead.
6. Pull the pheasant fibers over as a wingcase and split the tips back along each side for legs, then pull the pearl flash over the top as a flashback and bind at the bead. Whip finish.
