Flash San Juan Worm

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 2 versions

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Curved scud/nymph hook, 10-16
  • Thread Red 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Body Red or pink Ultra Chenille (vernille) (1 length)
  • Flash Pearl or red Krystal Flash (1-2 strands)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the middle of the shank.
  2. Lay a thread base and bind a length of red Ultra Chenille along the top so equal tags hang off each end.
  3. Bind a strand or two of pearl flash alongside the chenille so it runs the length of the worm.
  4. Wrap the thread to lock everything down, keeping the body slim.
  5. Whip finish in the middle and add a drop of cement.
  6. Singe both chenille ends to a taper with a lighter so they wiggle.
