Rib Pearl anti static bag strip (Midge Crystal Flash)
Resin Clear uv resin (Solarez Bone Dry UV resin)
How to tie it
Seat the 2.0mm light pink slotted bead against the jig eye and start the black 70D behind it, taking only a few wraps in front to lock the bead. At size 24 every extra wrap is visible bulk.
Tie in a single strand of pearl midge crystal flash at the 70% mark and bind it back to the bend, then wrap the black thread forward again to build a slim, evenly tapered body.
Wrap the crystal flash forward in six or seven open turns to the bead, keeping the spacing even. The gaps between the turns are what read as segments on a midge pupa, so consistent spacing matters more than tightness.
Tie the flash off behind the bead, trim close, and build a tiny thread collar to blend the body into the bead.
Whip finish and coat the whole body with a thin layer of Bone Dry. The resin both locks the single strand of flash in place and gives the fly the wet, glassy sheen of a real midge pupa.
