Reference Recipe
- Hook Salmon/steelhead up-eye hook, 2-6
- Thread Red 6/0 (140 denier)
Materials
- Tail Silver flashabou (full clump)
- Body Flat silver tinsel/mylar (1 length)
- Wing Silver flashabou (generous clump)
- Collar Hot-pink schlappen/saddle (1 feather)
- Head Red thread (coating)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend.
- Tie in a full clump of silver Flashabou for the tail, about one shank length.
- Wrap a flat silver tinsel body forward to the 75% mark and tie off.
- Tie in a generous wing of silver Flashabou over the top, reaching the end of the tail so the whole fly shimmers.
- Wrap 3-4 turns of hot-pink schlappen as a collar and sweep it back.
- Build a red thread head and whip finish.
