How to tie it
Seat the 3.2mm copper slotted bead on the jig hook and start the burnt orange thread at the base of the bead, wrapping a short base partway down the shank.
Strip a small bunch of well-speckled bronze mallard with the tips evened and tie in a tail one full hook-length long, binding it down only to the start of the bend.
Insert the end of the hot orange brassie wire into the bead slot, capture it, and wrap the thread over it all the way forward to the bead so the underbody stays level.
Tie in the large pearl tinsel directly on top of the shank behind the bead and bind it rearward to the tail tie-in point, leaving a flat, uniform base.
Dub a slender, slightly tapered body of orange Ice Dub from the tail up to the bead; less is more, add dubbing only as needed.
Spiral the hot orange wire forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns, tie it off behind the bead, and helicopter the excess.
Pull the pearl tinsel forward over the top of the body as the flashback, tie it down behind the bead, and trim.
Tie in a sparse clump of natural dun CDC tips on top so they sweep back over the body to about mid-shank, then a few speckled brahma hen or partridge fibers over the CDC, slightly longer; trim the butts.
Switch to fluorescent fire orange thread and build a neat hot spot collar behind the bead, covering all tie-down wraps.
Whip finish on the collar, trim the thread, and add a small drop of cement.
