  • Hook Daiichi 1120 scud hook
  • Thread red

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1)
  • Tail Red buzzer wrap (pine squirrel zonker strip)
  • Tail flash Red holographic tinsel (1 strand Crystal Flash, hanging off each side)
  • Body Red buzzer wrap (UV Straggle)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead onto a Daiichi 1120 and start red thread behind it.
  2. Tie a short red pine squirrel zonker strip in at the rear as the tail. Squirrel gives you a lot of movement in a very small package.
  3. Add a single strand of red Crystal Flash so it hangs off either side of the tail. One strand is enough on a fly this small.
  4. Tie red UV Straggle in at the back and wrap it forward to the bead in touching turns.
  5. Tie the Straggle off behind the bead and trim close.
  6. Whip finish. The tyer's point about this fly is that its simplicity is deceptive. It crushes fish.
