Materials
Foam Tan, 2 mm (One strip about a hook gap wide)
Foam Brown, 2 mm (One strip about a hook gap wide)
EP Fibers (or natural elk hair) Tan elk hair (One sparse clump for the wing)
MFC Small Barred Sexi-Floss Tan barred sexi floss (2 legs per side)
MFC Gator Hair Hot pink uni stretch (One small clump for the sighter post)
Superglue (Krazy Glue with brush) Clear head cement (Along the shank and under the foam)
How to tie it
Lay a base of tan 6/0 thread from behind the eye back to the start of the bend, then brush a thin line of superglue along the shank so the foam beds down and cannot spin.
Cut the tan and brown foam strips about a hook gap wide, stack them with the brown on top, and tie the doubled strip in at the bend with several firm wraps, leaving the tag ends pointing back over the bend.
Bind the foam down at two more points working forward, roughly the 40% and 65% points, so the body forms three even segments. Keep the strip on top of the shank at each tie-down.
Tie in a sparse clump of tan EP Fibers (or natural elk hair) as a wing at the front segment, measured to reach just past the bend of the hook. Trim the butts.
Add two strands of tan barred Sexi-Floss on each side at the same point, angled back so the knees sit alongside the body, then trim them to about a shank length.
Pull the foam forward over the wing and leg tie-in and bind it down just behind the eye to form the head and a short foam lip, then trim the tag ends of the foam short.
Tie a small clump of hot pink Gator Hair in on top at that same point as an indicator post, standing it up with a few wraps around its base.
Whip finish behind the eye, trim the sighter post to length, and trim the rear foam tag square just behind the bend.
