Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Long-shank saltwater/pike streamer hook, #2/0-4/0
  • Thread Chartreuse GSP 100D

Materials

  • Bucktail Chartreuse bucktail (large clump)
  • Bucktail Orange bucktail (small clump)
  • Bucktail Black bucktail (small clump over top)
  • Flash Gold/pearl flash (few strands)
  • Stick-on eyes Yellow/red eyes (pair)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the rear third of the shank and build a thread base.
  2. Tie in a full clump of chartreuse bucktail at the rear third as the belly/tail, extending roughly one-and-a-half hook lengths past the bend.
  3. Add a few strands of gold/pearl flash along the sides.
  4. Move forward one-third of the shank and tie in a second, sparser chartreuse clump to build volume.
  5. Add a small clump of orange bucktail as a mid-body accent, then a topping of black bucktail over the back to give the fire-tiger contrast.
  6. Attach a pair of stick-on eyes at the head and coat the head and eyes with UV resin.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye and cement.
